Abstract

The best treatment for post traumatic chronic osteomyelitis in children can be associated with developing of periarticular deformities and maintainance of in-fection. Effective result, with less interventions and complications, depends on the understanding of osteoarticular infectious process courses, of the correct analysis of laboratory exams and imaging, of the customization of antibiotic therapy and of the right choices in the surgical planning and strategies. In this article, the treatment of a child with distal humerus infecction is discussed with focus on the treatment process, without sequelae, after relapse of initial of soft infection treatment. Orthopaedic principles are discussed, within the context of evidence based medicine.
